The Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta is a destination for luxury experiences. Besides the lavish guest rooms and function rooms, the hotel offers a wide range of dining experiences. Recently they added the brand new contemporary Chinese restaurant, Jia, for go-to business and family dining.

After years of hosting the Shang Palace restaurant, the hotel management has redefined the concept and is now introducing the Jia restaurant to its guests. The restaurant was designed by Bond Studio, which has a long history in delivering international hospitality spaces, and Jia brings a fresh look with its modern and stylish vibes in keeping with the latest trends. The overall design is dominated by the earthy tones of its parquet floor, detailed laser cut partitions, wall ornaments, and ornamental wooden panels. The dimmed lighting sets a relaxed mood and adds an interesting visual element that highlights the interior design elements and makes this restaurant especially photogenic.

As guests arrive they are welcomed with a terracotta wall on the left side of the restaurant, which is toned down with a simple off-white pendant lamp, and a composition of various wallpaper designs with an Asian touch on the other side that enhances the contemporary concept. Luxurious accents can be found all over in the restaurant. The swing doors leading to the private dining rooms use the old Shang Palace doors with their remarkable Chinese wood carving. In addition, Jia also features a modern kitchen with a duck oven at the centre, where guests can see the process of preparing the signature Peking Duck.

Jia serves a line-up of delectable dim sum, sumptuous roasted meats and a range of much loved Chinese dishes. The restaurant blends classic Chinese cuisine with stylish presentation, giving each dish a little twist, yet preserving the essence of the original recipe. Leading Jia’s culinary team is Executive Chinese Chef, Christopher Chai.

Jia offers a range of private rooms for intimate family dinners, business and social events or meetings. There are six private rooms with a seating capacity ranging from as small as four to 15 people. These rooms honour the Chinese tradition in which a family or a group of up to eight persons sit around a circular table with a ‘lazy susan’ in the centre with a white marble surface and a dark wooden base.

“We are thrilled to see our loyal guests are returning for our authentic Chinese tastes. The new guests, on the other hand, love the injection of the new interiors, new menus and stylish food presentation,” says Debby Setiawaty, Director of Communications at the Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta. Jia is also included n the Golden Circle, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts’ frequent guest programme, where it is featured to all members worldwide.

Aligned with its mission to be the homey and go-to restaurant for Chinese food, the restaurant is designed to create a feeling of dining in a modern Oriental home. Jia’s guests would want to stay longer while having a reunion dinner with their loved ones, or even impressing a business partner with comforting Asian hospitality in a modern setting.
