Atop Banyan Tree

9/27/2019

Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur is perched atop a 60-storey building in the famed Golden Triangle area of Kuala Lumpur.

Golden Triangle is the main shopping and entertainment hub of the Malaysian capital. It’s home to the iconic Petronas Twin Towers and Bukit Bintang, a busy district with upscale malls and live music clubs that are natural tourist draws.

Offering a place to stay at the centre of Golden Triangle but far from the bustling streets is Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur, a modern hotel which occupies the upper levels of a high-rise building.

With an elevator ride, guests will arrive at the lobby, a space designed with earthy tones and a hint of Asian aesthetics, against a backdrop of picture-perfect city views.

Banyan Tree worked with Konzepte+Design International Sdn. Bhd. and Studioaria for the hotel’s architecture and interior design respectively. The hotel was officiated in July 2018 and has a total of 55 rooms and suites with stunning views of the Kuala Lumpur skyline.

All of the rooms are spacious with the smallest one at 50 sqm. The design approach is minimalist and the earthy tones continue inside the rooms. Beds are huge and cozy with some placed directly facing the floor-to-ceiling windows in an effort to bring the outdoors in. Apart from the bathroom basics inside the room, a number of suites have their own private pool for relaxation.

For guests who wish to get active, there is a fitness centre and an outdoor swimming pool located on the 53rd floor. Another facility worth trying is the Banyan Tree Spa that offers treatments based on traditional Asian healing therapies.

The rooftop area on the 59th floor is reserved for the trendy Vertigo, the highest hotel rooftop bar in Kuala Lumpur’s city centre. Catch the sunset views from their patio with drinks in hand. The mixologists can make you a cocktail inspired by local flavours, or the classics such as mojito, negroni and cosmopolitan.

Downstairs on the 58th floor, there’s Horizon Grill, a restaurant catering to local and international palates. The restaurant’s chef de cuisine has created an array of delectable cuisines using ingredients spanning from premium beef cuts to the freshest seafood available in town. End your meal with something sweet from the menu; three highlighted desserts are s’mores chocolate bombe, aqua cheesecake and cinnamon apple pie. To put the cherry on top, they all come with home-made ice cream.
