Kilo Kitchen and Lounge Jakarta is a brand new extension of the famous Kilo name in Bali and Singapore. Opened in December 2018, the place has already attracted a loyal crowd consisting of Jakarta’s elite. Whether it’s for an early lunch with friends at the brightly lit restaurant or to enjoy a delicious cocktail at the lounge, Kilo Jakarta offers an exciting atmosphere for any event.

Situated on the bustling food and nightlife district of Senopati, Kilo Kitchen and Lounge Jakarta is a place like no other. The large area was designed to be a perfect mix of sophisticated and sleek, consisting of an array of organic and raw materials with an industrial theme. Interior designer Jimin Fadjar, who also designed the recently reopened Kilo Singapore, took inspiration from Kilo’s Bali and Singapore counterparts to design the new space.

The kitchen was designed as a sequence of intimate spaces to provide a sense of privacy for guests. Using bespoke furniture created with unique materials, each section has its own distinctive detail. The open ceiling against the textural concrete walls and brickwork truly evoke the industrial feel of the space, while the hand-made glazed tiles and marble bar brings out its elegance. The combination of contrasting materials truly makes this place one-of-a-kind.

A large part of the detailing around Kilo Jakarta was inspired by the owner’s passion for the “culinary experience”. The restaurant’s dishes use simple ingredients, but are elevated through its flavour and presentation, which is what inspired the hand-painted distressed paint on Kilo Kitchen’s walls and the selection of beautiful natural stones embedded into the floor. The open kitchen is one of the key design components that sets Kilo apart, and further emanates its passion for good food.

Kilo Lounge on the basement was designed with a completely different atmosphere in mind. Its overall ambience was inspired by the very first Kilo in Kallang, Singapore that opened seven years ago. The use of warm leather tones along with the exposed raw steel and natural brass makes the lounge inviting for the nightlife crowd. The room is polished and sophisticated, and is complimented by the carefully curated pieces of art from the owner’s personal art collection.

The lounge hosts an array of events with different genres of music. Guests can enjoy live bands or hip hop music on the weekdays and dance to energetic house music on the weekends. The crowd is lively and the atmosphere is always fun. The lounge also makes an ideal space to host private events that can be arranged exactly to your preference.

Kilo Kitchen and Lounge is one of Jakarta’s latest additions to the restaurant and nightlife scenes, yet it has already become a household name. The elegant and upscale casual space stands out from the rest due to its careful and meticulous design with the help of Jimin. To top that, the vibe of good food, good drinks, and good music is what makes Kilo a brilliantly creative space to create lasting memories with family and friends.
