A Rendezvous with Art and Hospitality

Indonesia Design celebrated the publication of our 61st edition, themed ‘New Hotels’, on March 26th, 2014. The contemporary function room of Artotel Jakarta-Thamrin, that was also featured in the edition, was the venue for our exiting event attended by our editorial team, featured hoteliers, supportive clients and close friends.

Hosted by a strikingly beautiful MC, Julia Nadya, the evening was enlivened with the electrifying sounds of DJ Fly that played his unique blend of dance tracks and house music. Guests were enticed with delectable cocktails and canapés served by ROCA (Restaurant Of Contemporary Art) Artotel Jakarta-Thamrin, as mingling guests were also encouraged to test the designer headphones of JBL and Harman/Kardon on their own handphones and have a little private silent disco time! Renowned luxury luggage brand, Rimowa, displayed one of their most sophisticated preprofessional camera cases to the envy of many as only one lucky winner stood the chance at the end of the night to win this valued piece!

Indonesia Design’s Editor at Large, Dewald Haynes, welcomed guests to our launch party and with his informal greeting style convinced them to let down their hair and enjoy the party. Lina Gan, Editor in Chief of Indonesia Design, cut the white Belgium chocolate cake that was decorated with our 61st edition’s cover to symbolically launch the edition, and in doing so ultimately led the night off to a festive start!

As the highlight of the event, ZakyArifin made a mural specifically for Indonesia Design. Zaky is one of the visual artists commissionedby Artotel Jakarta-Thamrin. His drawings can be seen at the third level of this unique hotel. Born in 1983 and based in Jakarta-Indonesia, Zaky’s identifiable style of chalk murals displays consistency and interaction with his subject matter. In every line ofhis contemporary artwork there’sa memory, in each failure there’s

a learning and within its complexity there’s simplicity. His work symbolized a journey into simplicity, as his performance was fiercely watched by the impressed crowd. But what would a party be without gifts: The lucky winners of our sponsored door prizes were KristianKuntadi from PHM Hospitality Management and AndiFathur from foodpanda.co.id who each won hotel vouchers from Artotel Jakarta-Thamrin handed to them by the General Manager of Artotel Indonesia, Eduard Pangkerego. EkaFebrina from Metrox Group won a JBL product that were given to her by IlhamArifin from IMS Indonesia, and Marshella from Da Vinci was the lucky winner of the Rimowa luggage handed directly to her from the equally blessed Rimowa Brand Manager, EkaFebrina.

We thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality rendered by the Artotel staff and management and we look forward to the more successful launch parties this year - Look out for your personal invitation.
