You are celebrated for your environmental graphic, but you still do many logos. Since when and why do you creates logos?
As a graphic design bureau, we decided to focus on environmental graphic since the beginning because it was founded by me, with my graphic design background, and Dicky Sukmana, who was educated as an architect. Environmental graphic can be formed in both 2D and 3D – indoors or outdoors. Our mission is to build a better environment by making/building good designs. We are open to do design projects as long as they share the same vision to build a better environment, both in nature and community. Logos do count.
From all logos that you have designed, which one is the most challenging?
All of the projects that we do have their own challenge. It triggers us to bring the best solution to give the best end result.
Why did you decide to create our 15th anniversary logo?
iD is one of the best media that promotes Indonesian designs and designers. We hope that designing for iD can make an impact to a greater audience.
What is the design concept?
Responding to iD’s aim of flashback – having seen projects being designed and built to its establishment today – we were inspired by stairs as they can lead us to a higher level, or flashback to the lower staircase. The logo is made only in one colour tone with big dimension to make if efficient and applicable to various mediums.
How can this logo represent Nusae as well?
It highlights function, then aesthetics. These are what we always look for in a project: function, proportion and composition.
As a graphic designer, what do you think of our design?
We think iD is good and looking more mature – fits its target well. We hope to see a typography that’s easier to read.
Please share your wishes for our 15th anniversary.
We hope that iD remains consistent in promoting and developing Indonesian design industry to national and international audiences. More success to come!
