Conquering the World with Crochet

The history of crochet goes back as far as the 17th century, where the French first used the technique to create lace. Unlike knitting which needs more than one needle or hook, crochet is a piece of needlework made by looping thread using a single crochet hook. Due to its handicraft nature, this practice is still regarded as an artisan skill that requires high tenacity. Crochet is not only used for making lace, but is also seen in fashion items such as hand bags which have been a popular accessory for almost 200 years.
