Located in the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, New Jersey, United States, The MetLife Stadium is a sports stadium owned by the New York Giants and the New York Jets, two members of the National Football League. Met Life, a giant insurance company based in New York City acquired the naming rights to the stadium for 25 years since 2011. As the only US stadium to house two National Football League franchises, MetLife Stadium’s fabulous design provides unparalleled flexibility in accommodating the needs and personalities of the New York Giants and Jets. The design creates an intimidating home-field advantage for both teams.

The 195,000-sqm stadium, opened in 2010, has a facade that is a combination of traditional and modern design. It’s made of an outer skin of aluminium louvers and glass and it’s set on a limestone-like base. The light-coloured exterior is in contrast with the stadium’s sponsor signage, giving them more impact. HOK, the design architect, worked with sponsors to develop lively and engaging settings that facilitated them to extend their brand experiences in unusual ways.

The seating area was designed to surround the field to give the audience an outstanding view from all angles and to amplify the sound effects during a match. Furthermore, there are more than 4,300 square metres of digital displays and a giant HD video display board that add to the fan experience.
MetLife Stadium’s fabulous design was named the NFL’s “Greenest Stadium” by the U.S. EPA and it has persistently been recognized by the Green Sports Alliance for its leadership in promoting sustainability design in sports venues. This USD 1.6 billion project is the most expensive stadium to have been built and it is a shared achievement of design partners Bruce Mau, the Rockwell Group, EwingCole and of course HOK as the main design architect.
