A Tribute Irvan Noeman

While there are various reasons why designers design, there is one constant why each design the way they do: style. But as designing is an activity that involves imagining and creating something in the future, how can designers foresee what style is to come their way? Irvan Noe’man of BD+A Design was the man to talk to in terms of trend forecasting in Indonesia. Barbara Hahijary of Indonesia Design is fortunate enough to be one of his last ‘students’, having met with the well-respected designer just two days before he passed away to learn about how he did it all.

Barbara earned her bachelor's degree in architecture from the Interior Architecture Program of the University of Indonesia in 2013. Historical or heritage buildings, as well as utilitarian design, fascinates her as it is the interaction between people and architecture that remains her favourite topic to explore. Besides architecture, her interests include design, handcrafts, literature and social issues.
