It’s not everyday that you have an architect for a mayor, but Bandung has been having a taste of it for the last two years. Mochamad Ridwan Kamil, founder of PT Urbane Indonesia as well as incumbent mayor of Bandung is bringing visible innovations to the city. Kamil restores Bandung’s old parks and builds new ones, including Taman Jomblo (Single’s Park) featuring one-person seats under a flyover, Taman Musik Centrum (Centrum Music Park), and Taman Fotografi (Photography Park), all complete with free WiFi and iconic ornaments. As reported, Kamil is also planning to launch Little Bandung, a center for Indonesian restaurants and cafes as well as products, in Seoul, South Korea this October.
